OnePlus now offers Charging Stations at Bangalore and soon Delhi airports in India
In June this year OnePlus released the first Android 11 Beta for the OnePlus 8 series. The beta build gave us our first look at OxygenOS 11 and some of the new features that the company added to its latest Android skin. We also spotted an unreleased feature within the Settings app on the build, which would help OnePlus users find public charging stations. Soon after we reported this finding, a Twitter user spotted a OnePlus Charging Station at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, India. While OnePlus has kept mum about this feature over the last couple of months, the company has now announced that it is finally making its way to Indian users.
According to a recent post on the OnePlus Community forums, the company has started rolling out the new “Charging Stations” feature in India. As we saw in the APK teardown earlier this year, the feature will help you locate a OnePlus Charging Station by pushing a notification to your device whenever you’re near one.
OnePlus will deploy these charging stations at major airports around the country, with the first station already operational at the Bengaluru airport. The Delhi airport is the next in line to get a similar charging station. These OnePlus Charging Stations will feature integrated beacons to help the company’s devices identify and locate a nearby station. Once a station is located, you will see a notification pop up on your device. The notification will include the nearest charging station’s location and buttons to help you track your way to the station and mute the notification.
Tapping on the “Track Now” button will open up the Charging Stations settings on your device, which will provide more information about the location and distance of the charging station. The settings page will also include options to disable the feature and mute notifications for 24 hours. It’s worth noting that the post doesn’t clarify whether the feature is limited to OnePlus devices running OxygenOS 11 or not. Do let us know if you’ve received the feature on a device running OxygenOS 10 in the comments below.
